Edward Laurence Prescott was convicted of the manslaughter of ex-wife Beryl Prescott 52.
They were married in 1939 but divorced in 1952. However, they started seeing each other again in 1958.
They had a row on 27 December 1960 and Edward Prescott hit Beryl Prescott with a poker. and on 29 December they had another row when she refused to be reconciled and he stabbed her over 50 times.
In 1939 he had been bound over for unlawfully wounding his wife and in 1950 he had been jailed for 12 years after being convicted of wounding her with intent to murder.
